I promised pictures of the adult Chinese mantises from last week, so here you go.  And to start off we have some lovely horror-movie-esque imagery of a mantis tearing into its cricket meal.  Enjoy!

    was wondering if you really *hand fed* them : ) didn’t think so, but you gotta wonder. nice pictures! they are SO cool

      I guess that depends on your definition of hand-feeding. 🙂 I did use forceps, but that was to more to keep from spooking the mantis than to protect my hands.

      Although I also did not actually feed them my hand.
